Day 86

I had my first piece of key lime pie in the Florida Keys while on a break from swimming with dolphins. That was around 1991. I even bought a bottle of real key lime juice to make it when I got home. When I found the bottle in my pantry about five years later, I realized that making my own homemade key lime pie had passed me by....until today. The lime zest I peeled yesterday became an ingredient along with the real lime juice I squeezed, low-fat condensed milk, graham crackers, butter and egg yolks. I pulled the recipe off the internet and it was a great success especially with homemade whipped cream blanketing the sunny yellow filling.
